Sally will provide an introduction to what sustainability is and the role that the finance industry can play in supporting the world to build back better as we move on from the covid crisis. The session will end with an outline of the role that the compliance officer can play in supporting their business to capture both the opportunities and risks associated with becoming a sustainable business.
Sally leads the risk and regulatory service provision in the Channel Islands working closely with subject matter experts throughout the firm. As well as supporting local regulated businesses with their regulatory responsibilities she advises on effective risk management across the financial services industry.
Sustainability, is increasingly positioned at the top of board agendas and is now central to corporate competitiveness and a company’s continued ability to operate. The financial services industry has a crucial role to play in transitioning to a more sustainable world, through steering capital away from the most polluting companies and towards those demonstrating environmental and social leadership.
Sally is working to educate and raise awareness across the industry on the opportunities and challenges that the UN sustainable development goals represent with a focus on climate change.
Through her position on the Guernsey Green Finance Working Party, and her role with the Institute of Directors as a sustainability champion, Sally can offer both an international and local perspective on the role that the financial services industry can and should play in building a more sustainable future.
