Nick formed part of the Assessment Team that undertook the Moneyval mutual evaluation of Malta against the FATF standards, and was the lead assessor for evaluating Malta’s AML/CFT supervisory and beneficial ownership regimes. Nick will share his insights of undertaking a mutual evaluation and highlight what lessons we can learn from the Malta mutual evaluation and other international finance centres which have recently been evaluated. The presentation will also cover what Guernsey can expect at its next evaluation and what role regulated firms will play in that evaluation. Nick will also provide an overview of other international work streams such as the FATF’s supervisory forum which will assist Guernsey in its preparation for its next Moneyval evaluation.
Nick Herquin is the Deputy Director of the Financial Crime Division and has been a financial services regulator for just over 16 years. The Financial Crime Division of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission is responsible for AML/CFT supervision for all financial services and prescribed business sectors (lawyers, accountants and estate agents) and policy initiatives such as the updated AML/CFT Handbook. Nick is a Fellow of International Compliance Association and Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and also a trained MONEYVAL/FATF assessor.
